From the desk of the Pastor

OUR COMINGS & GOINGS

I want to take this opportunity on behalf of the parish community of Immaculate Conception Church to say thank you to Fr. Edgar Devina for his work and service as our Parochial Vicar.
In the past two years, the parish has said goodbye to Msgr. Guenther, the former Pastor, welcomed me, the new Pastor and Fr. Ed as the new Parochial Vicar; said goodbye to Fr. Jose Abalon as he moved on to serve in the Diocese of Boston, and welcomed Fr. Giuseppe Fedele, to his first parish, after Ordination, as Parochial Vicar; and now once again, we say another goodbye to Fr. Edgar. This movement of our comings and goings is a part of ministry in the Church. We respond to the call to service where we are needed and try to use our gifts and talents to the best of our ability wherever we are called to serve.
As many of you who got to know Fr. Ed personally, know he is ordinarily a “low-key” individual, who wears the hat of both priest and scholar. As you may have heard from him last weekend, he is completing his Doctoral studies in philosophy at Fordham University, and putting the final touches on his thesis. We wish him well in his future endeavors.
Although we would have liked the opportunity to bring this chapter of our common life to closure by a “farewell party”, we are also trying to respect his own wishes to remain “low key.”
So let us remember to keep Fr. Edgar in our prayers and commend him to the loving care of the Lord.
God bless and keep you, Ed, and give you many happy years in the future, as you continue to serve his people with your gifts.

Fr. Joe

Steward's Creed

I believe in the gifts of God, and feel gratitude for all I have been given.

These gifts are not mine to have, but mine to share.

When they are shared, my gifts will make a difference for others.

And I believe the act of giving is more important than the gift itself.

I will make giving a priority.

I will give to others because so much of what I have comes from others.

I will give of who I am, what I do, and what I have.

To my family, faith, and community, I will give myself.

As Christ gave so much for so many, so I will give to you.

And I will be thankful for the opportunity to give.
